Really lovely description of a person deeply involved in the life in front of him. And the upsides and downsides of having (being) an older parent: more calm attention for parenting, less time on the far end for having grandchildren.

So true! I was lucky to have so much of his attention and time, and I benefited from his maturity. But I was also painfully aware of his age and that our time was likely shorter than most kids with their parents. 💔
