I so wish I'd known about the exhibit reconstruction. It's only a 6-hour drive from where I live.
I love this piece. As a resident of Westbeth Artists Housing, I know Joan and knew Barton. I visited his apartment once for a story I was pitching- and I was blown away. I recall looking at this hour glass and asking about the contents. Barton explained it held the cremains of two gay men who were a couple and now they were together forever. His home truly was a museum of an incredible artist. I'm so glad it has been preserved,
And I totally recommend Joan's poetry books, illustrated with her brilliant collage work.
