Thank you for this, Kate. My dad was a soda and crackers kind of guy, too (except he swore by 7-Up). Your story brought a swarm of warm memories to me today.

I just love that you keep your dad’s clicker. What a great talisman that actually does something. Great play on the word clicker. Everything about this clicked for me. 💜

Brought tears to my eyes as you described your split second decision to slip your dad's clicker in to your purse...what a tender impulse and you have him forever near. Beautiful story!

I love tributes to fathers. I had the best dad myself, and when I read good writing like this about other people and their dads, I smile and remember mine. My dad used to say that “ work is good for what ails ya.” My mother brought the saltines and ginger ale. ❤️

Love the story you've shared. Reminds me of my Dad in some ways. No clicker for my dad, but coaching sports for sure. My "soda & crackers" was Vick's Vapor Rub - useful for what ailed ya! Thanks for the reminders...

Thank you for this story of your dad and all the guidance he gave you, even in his silence.

Thank you for sharing your lovely story. If you find saltines and ginger ale are not up to the task, try pretzels and milk.
